Connecting Residents to Fresh Food
While the United States has a significant amount of food resources, there are vast inequities in terms of what foods are available where. Most of us have no idea where our food originates. Others only have access to whatever foods happen to be sold in area food stores. Many times this can create “food deserts” (often in low-income communities) where the only foods available are those that are cheap, processed, and contributors to a wide range of preventable health ailments.
Carry the Light believes this can be strategically addressed at the local level. Thus, it is working to address food sustainability through plans which cover access, production, and distribution.
